Determinants of Birth Control Use among Kenyan Women: Evidence from Dhs- 2008-2009

چکیده

Population control has been a huge policy issue of the twenty first century and has been a topic of discussion in the world’s capitals. Overuse of natural resources, poverty and high mortality rates were the key issues that raised population control. The data used in this study is taken from the 2008/2009 Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) for Kenya. The sample used in this study consists a total of 1431 women between the ages of 15-49 who represented all the eight provinces in the country.These women were identified for further interview s during the household surveys. the findings in this study raise number of important issue. Firstly, the unmet needs of rural populations both in terms of access to family planning services and information on contraceptives. There is a need for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to provide interventions for the rural populations that are accessible especially to secluded villages that may or may not health center s. Although this paper contributes some important findings to the pool of scientific knowledge on contraceptive use, there is a need to conduct a cohort study that could make cause-effect inferences.
